The List

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (1)Top pick

FootJoy WinterSof Golf Glove

Sizes: S-2XL

+ Good grip in wet conditions
+ Thermal properties
- In black only

If you’re looking at the best winter golf gloves, you have to consider this option from FootJoy. Firstly, they feature the autosuede knit palm that appears on their RainGrip rain glove – it offers exceptional levels of grip in wetter conditions and will actually become more grippy the wetter it gets.

Then, with a waterproof structured nylon construction and weather shield foam fleece on the back of the glove, they will help keep your hands warm and dry in poor weather.

Further warmth and comfort are delivered by the extended knit cuff which really helps keep out the wind and cold. In addition, these gloves are functional off the course as well as on.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (2)Ideal grip

Mizuno Thermagrip Golf Gloves

Sizes: S-XL

+ Impressive thermo technology
+ Good grip
- Only in black

When the temperature drops, the Mizuno Thermagrip gloves could greatly enhance your playing experience. Featuring Mizuno’s renowned Breath Thermo technology, trace moisture on the skin in converted into new heat.

It sounds like jargon, but it really does work and, these gloves definitely help keep the feeling in your fingers as the mercury drops. Made of synthetic leather, they feature a fleece-lined cuff for extra protection. And you'll have no problem gripping any of the best Mizuno golf irons when wearing these gloves as the brushed palm delivers an excellent grip and a surprisingly good feel for a winter glove. The closure tab is effective and allows for a more precise fit.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (3)Water resistant

Under Armour ColdGear Infrared Golf Glove

Sizes: S-XL

+ Well insulated for great warmth
+ Exceptional grip
- Sizing can come up small

Under Armour love to pack a ton of technology into all of their products (just take a look at our guide on the best Under Armour golf shoes) and it's clear these gloves are no different. The previous model was dual layer but here we have a 3-layer bonded exterior fabric which is lightweight, durable, and water resistant. Add to this the ColdGear Infrared lining, and you have gloves that help keep your hands warm in brutal conditions. This is because the technology has been developed to help your body absorb and retain body heat.

Sold in pairs, the gloves’ palm offers excellent grip and a sleek finish. It is also pretty durable and robust and the lengthened cuffs are a welcome addition as well.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (4)Best looking

Nike All Weather Golf Gloves

Sizes: S-XL

+ Incredibly comfortable
+ Confidence-inducing grip
- Velcro strap is a touch awkward

Using black and cool grey to provide a slick but understated design, the gloves can match with almost any winter outfit. From a practical standpoint, they provide enough warmth on cooler days, while they also grip the club brilliantly in both dry and inclement weather - giving you that all-important confidence to unleash a committed swing. We found them incredibly comfortable to wear over several rounds and they did not prohibit feel when on and around the greens. As a bonus, the suede material used is compatible with touch screens, therefore you can still use your phone, GPS device, or trolleys if it’s raining. The only small criticism would be that the stiff velcro flap on the back is slightly awkward in an otherwise graceful design.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (5)For the cold

FootJoy StaSof Winter Gloves

Sizes: S-2XL

+ Stylish both on and off the course
+ Superb performance
- May take a few rounds to get your feel

Another worthy inclusion on this list from FootJoy are the Stasof Winter gloves because of the combination of premium feel and warmth. The soft Cabretta leather on the palm and fingers is super soft. Add to that an upper of thermally engineered fleece and the result is a seriously classy pair of gloves that don’t disappoint in freezing conditions.Their Taction3 APL leather is also very effective at maintaining grip even in sleety or wet conditions. It feels soft, but also like it will hold up for many rounds.

What really sets them apart is the versatility as well. These gloves are perfect for driving on cold mornings and going out on a cold night.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (6)Use anywhere

Abacus Winter Glove

Sizes: S-XXL

+ Very warm
+ Velcro strap provides adjustability
- Quite thick to play in

As someone who struggles with bad circulation in the hands, I always use winter golf gloves, from the moment the leaves start turning orange. These aren’t big, bulky golf mittens that you wear between shots. It’s possible to wear these gloves, which come as a pair, when you actually play shots. I’ve tried doing so and, for me, they still feel too thick – you lose some feel compared to the skin-tight leather of ‘normal’ golf gloves.

However, I have leant these to a few fellow players, senior golfers who struggle with cold hands in the winter, and the bulkier material hasn’t bothered them as much during play. I enjoy the warmth that the suede provides, which is boosted with a fleece lining on the inside. In summary, they’re a decent alternative to mittens and can be used to play in.

Premium

Original Penguin Winter Patterned Gloves

Sizes: S-XL

+ Very comfortable and warm
+ Slip on quite easily
- Perhaps too thick to swing in

The Penguin winter golf gloves do an excellent job at keeping your hands warm. The quilted top adds a sense of class and sophistication to the glove. In the pack you can expect to get a glove for your left and right hand and both gloves come with an added bit of technology.

The index finger is equipped with a touch screen sensitive material meaning you can still use your mobile device, GPS and any other touch sensitive technology you may have. The design makes the gloves perfect for day to day wear as well. In fact I would say the gloves are better suited for day to day life as I found the material was slightly too thick for me to be able to hold my golf club.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (8)Leather feel

Callaway Thermal Grip Glove

Sizes: S-XL

+ Wind and water repellent
+ Very neat fit
- No extra protective cuff

Sold in pairs, the Callaway Thermal Grip gloves deliver a good blend of protection and performance. They’re fleece lined for warmth but the digitized synthetic leather palm offers a good degree of feel. These are not cumbersome and awkward gloves, they fit neatly around your hands and that is enhanced by the Opti Fit closure system, that keeps your hand securely locked into the glove.

The Microfiber outer shell provides good protection against both wind and water whilst also allowing good freedom of movement for the fingers. Overall, the gloves deliver a good halfway house in terms of winter gloves and a standard glove, featuring impressive warmth with a decent level of feel.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (9)For touch screens

Cobra StormGrip Winter Glove

Sizes: S-XL

+ Excellent grip in wet weather
+ Touch screen compatible
- No ball marker attachment

These gloves work well as a pair and the fit is excellent. They’re sleek, comfortable, and provide an excellent feel. The traction provided by the StormGrip suede fabric is outstanding and we found performance weirdly improved when they got wetter.

A tailored, elasticated cuff helps keep out a cool breeze and they’re water resistant to keep your hands dry. A nice touch is that the index finger is touch screen compatible so you can operate an electric trolley, GPS device or your phone without having to take them off. Overall these tick a lot of boxes if you’re in the market for a solid winter golf glove – durable, comfortable, good fit, good grip, good looks.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (10)Best for rain

MacWet Winter Climatec Golf Glove

Sizes: XS-2XL

+ Superb grip in wet conditions
+ Windproof
- No ball marker

MacWet’s Aquatec material is one of the very best out there for delivering exceptional grip in wet conditions. These gloves, designed to be worn as a pair, can definitely help you hold on to the club when the rain starts to come down.

In addition, the gloves are water resistant and windproof and fleece lined on the back to help keep your hands warm in colder weather. Combine a pair of these with one of the best golf rain jackets and you'll be well protected from the elements on the course. One of the great qualities of the MacWet gloves is their durability. They’ll easily last a full winter season and beyond. They’re comfortable to wear, quick drying and they look sleek and stylish to boot.

Best Winter Golf Gloves 2024 (11)Value model

Inesis Winter Golf Gloves

Sizes: S-2XL

+ Great feel thanks to suede palm
+ Elasticated cuff for neat fit
- Warming benefits effected negatively if gloves get wet

There’s nothing worse than losing the feeling in your fingers on a winter’s day on the golf course. These super-soft fleece and suede gloves are great in cold, dry weather and will help you to keep playing when the mercury falls. The soft fleece back and elasticated cuff deliver good thermal qualities while the suede palm gives maximum grip and feel.

The fit is neat and can be tailored using the robust closure system. The glove has been designed to be sleek and unfussy and they work well as a pair. Offering good value for money, these are worth a look when considering the best winter golf gloves.

How we test golf gloves

When it comes to testing winter golf gloves our comprehensive methodology revolves around, as you would expect, playing a lot of golf. We feel putting golf products to the test on the golf course, on the range and in practice is the best way to find out how usable and well-designed some gloves are.

On that note we feel it is particularly important to use all golf gloves in different conditions, whether that be rain, wind, hot or cold, to give a clear idea on the protection and grip on offer. We also looked to use the gloves off the course as well to see how versatile they were.Importantly, every member of the Golf Monthly team is a regular golfer so we put gloves to the test over a number of rounds. The final point we should mention is no manufacturer can buy a good review. This is because our testing team tells it how it is and we seek to be as insightful and honest as possible.

How to choose a golf glove

Golf gloves come in all different shapes and sizes and have a variety of features that can help you perform better out on the course. From their velcro straps to their grippy palms, there is a lot to think about when purchasing your next winter golf glove. That can sometimes be a little overwhelming, so, to help you figure out which is the best option for you, we've put together this handy list of considerations you should bear in mind when purchasing your next winter golf glove.

Wet-weather protection

Obviously, the most important thing here is protection from wet conditions especially if the winter months in your country see a lot of rain. The last thing you want to be thinking about in those conditions is whether your hands will slip on your golf grips and thankfully there are lots of brands that make models which provide more grip the wetter they get. Quick-drying models are particularly useful too. Here we would recommend being aware of which models are just water-resistant, and which models are totally waterproof.

Cold weather protection

Additionally, as the winter months tend to get very cold in the northern hemisphere so a good pair of winter gloves will help with warmth too. This could take the form of a thermal or fleece lining which will definitely help especially if you catch a shot thin!

Breathability

Breathability is very important when it comes to purchasing a good golf glove. It is nearly impossible to play with sweaty hands, and while we do outline some of the best golf gloves to wear if you do get sweaty hands, it is important to ensure your glove offers great breathability and moisture-wicking options to ensure you have an optimum hold on the club.

Durability

Another factor to think about is durability. A good pair will be able to deal with the toughest of conditions and continue to perform over a long period of time. Plus you don't want to have to keep purchasing a pair of golf clubs every couple of months as that can be expensive.

Comfort and fit

While things like grip and breathability are important, comfort is paramount. If you're wearing a glove that is uncomfortable on the course, you will get distracted by that glove and not play your best golf. For that reason, it is very important to try your winter golf glove before you buy it and ensure that it fits you well and is comfortable.
